Victorian School Holidays

Each state of Australia sets their own school term and holiday dates – which can be very confusing when traveling interstate. Tasmania has 3 terms per year. All others states have 4 terms (2 semesters) per year with a mid-semester break.

The capital city Melbourne with approximately 70% of the population of the state and on the north side of Port Phillip Bay, the busiest container port in Australia. The city is the economic and cultural center of the state. This town is also the State Library of Victoria. Some other places Ballarat, Beechworth, Bendigo, Echuca and Geelong.

  • Term 3     15 July – 20 September

  • Term 3     14 July – 19 September
  • Term 4     6 October – 19 December

  • Term 1     28 January – 27 March *
  • Term 2     13 April – 26 June
  • Term 3     13 July – 18 September
  • Term 4     5 October – 18 December

Note:
* The first day of Term 1 is when teachers start – this is a student-free day. Please check with your school when your child starts as student-free day arrangements may vary from school to school.

** (25 April is Easter Monday – a public holiday – as well as ANZAC Day. 26 April is a public holiday in lieu of ANZAC Day)
